Dried marshmallow: what to do and how to soften?
Sweet or sour-sweet confectionery with a delicate structure is loved by children and adults. But the airy treat is very demanding to the storage conditions, especially to the humidity of the air. If the value of this indicator is less than 75%, the marshmallow will quickly dry out. Do not rush to throw it away, there are several ways to make the dessert soft.
How to soften marshmallows
General Rules
Before you reanimate marshmallowsCheck whether it has an expiration date, which depends on several factors:
- the presence of preservatives;
- Compliance with production technology;
- composition;
- The integrity of the original packaging.
Store product in unopened packaging is stored for a month, in the opened - 2 weeks in a cool place, if hermetically sealed. Shelf life of homemade sweets in a tightly closed container on a refrigerator shelf - 5-7 days, in the freezer - 3 months.
Dried sweets can be "revived" even if the expiration date is out, but there are no signs of spoilage - an unpleasant odor, stickiness, color changes, moldy areas on the surface.
Using hot water
This method will only take a minute of your time.
Put solid marshmallows in a ziplock bag, close the lock. Immerse the bag with the contents in a container of hot water so that no liquid gets inside.
After a minute, make sure that the confectionery has become soft, serve or transfer to a container for further storage.
Using moist bread.
Place the marshmallows in a bag with a fresh loaf of bread or loaf, seal (tie) tightly. The moisture from the bread will partially transfer to the dried protein product. This will take 1-2 days.
If you plan to store the marshmallow further, add a couple of slices of moist bread to it in a plastic bag and don't remove it until the treat is consumed.
Using a microwave oven.
This option softens dried product even faster than with hot water. The result of the express method is noticeable in as little as 10 seconds.
Arrange the marshmallows on a flat plate and place a glass of water in the center. Turn on to full power for 10 to 15 seconds maximum. If heated longer, the marshmallows will melt.
Using frosting.
Put the bag of hard candy in the freezer, defrost just before use, but not before 4 hours.
After defrosting, the consistency of the marshmallow will change. It will not only become soft, but also loose.
